Arrow in Picture User Guide
Arrow in Picture helps home inspectors and other field professionals capture photographs with permanent visual markers and optional captions.
1. Allow access
When prompted, allow Camera and Photos access. Microphone and Speech Recognition access are optional and are used only for voice dictation.
2. Select a marker
Tap the marker button at the lower left to choose an arrow, dot, circle, oval, square, or privacy mosaic. Use the eye button to show or hide the selected marker.
3. Position the marker
Move the phone until the marker points to or surrounds the condition you want to document. The marker shown in the camera preview will be rendered into the saved image.
4. Choose camera options
- Use the ratio button to select the photograph's aspect ratio.
- Use the flash button to select the available flash mode.
- Use the camera-switch button to change between the rear and front cameras.
- Use the lock button to prevent accidental changes to the selected controls.
- Use the zoom control to adjust the camera view.
5. Add a caption
Tap the camera preview to open the caption panel. Type a short caption, or tap the microphone button to dictate it. Tap the camera preview again when finished.
6. Take and save the picture
Press the shutter button. The active marker and caption are permanently rendered into the JPEG. The completed picture is saved in Apple Photos inside the Arrow album.
A successful annotated photo displays: “Saved annotated photo to Arrow Album.”
7. Review recent pictures
Recent pictures appear as thumbnails at the top of the camera screen. The original saved pictures remain under your control in Apple Photos.
Troubleshooting
If the camera or saving function does not work, open iPhone Settings, select Arrow in Picture, and verify the required Camera and Photos permissions. For voice dictation, also verify Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions.
